Personal Care Services

  • Assistance/ cueing with bathing, dressing and hygiene

  • Assistance with ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercise, safe use of equipment and assistive devices (walker, crutches, cane, etc.) as well as changes of position

  • Assistance/ cueing with toileting; commode, catheter, or urinal; incontinence care

  • Meal planning, preparation, and assistance with feeding

  • Emotional support and motivation through conversation, encouragement, and recreational activities

  • Maintenance of appropriate agency records

  • Present and conduct themselves in a professional manner according to agency policy.

  • Adhere to infection control and safety procedures which are in accordance with agency policy.

  • Catheter care: emptying catheter bags and measuring intake/outputs

  • Provide care/cueing for any assistive devices/equipment (braces, slings, walker and/or hoses)

  • Observe intake and/or output

  • Provide diabetic care (observe and report symptoms of hyper/hypoglycemia

  • Application of warm/cold compresses for any clinical symptoms as ordered in care plan

  • Encourage/ Cue with range (ROM)of motion exercises. * Exceptions can only be made at the discretion of the director of operations or case manager

Household Management

  • Light housekeeping

  • Changing of bed linens

  • Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting of client’s environment

  • Mopping if the floors becomes wet

  • Emptying client’s wastebaskets and garbage

  • Cleaning of kitchen includes washing dishes, countertops and the floor

  • Wash personal laundry – The laundry that is essential to a client's health care. Laundry for any family members or others in the same home is not the responsibility of the caregiver.

  • Grocery shopping and help with running errands

Routine Duties

  • Assistance in getting in and out beds, wheelchairs, and motor vehicles

  • Assistance/ Cueing with routine bodily functions, such as bathing and personal hygiene, using the toilet, dressing and grooming and feeding, including preparation and cleanup

  • The provision of medication assistance by providing reminders or cues to take medication, the opening of preset medication containers and aiding in the handling or ingesting of non-controlled substance medications, including eye drops, herbs, supplements, and over-the-counter medications to an individual who is unable to accomplish the task due to an impairment.

  • Homemaking services include household tasks such as housekeeping, shopping, laundry, meal planning/preparation and cleaning

  • Companion services provide fellowship, care and protection for a client, including transportation, letter writing, mail reading and escort services that are provided to a client at the client's residence
